Fight results: Joshua stops Paul in Round 6, Baumgardner wins

MIAMI — Jake Paul learned firsthand that elite boxing comes with a different level of intensity, as former two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua delivered a decisive sixth-round knockout on Friday night at the Kaseya Center.

The bout proved difficult to watch at times and lasted longer than many observers expected. For much of the opening rounds, Paul moved laterally and avoided prolonged exchanges, drawing loud boos from the crowd. His cautious approach helped him stay in the fight early, but fatigue soon became a factor. As Paul slowed, Joshua closed the distance and ultimately ended the contest with a powerful straight right hand.

While Paul managed to last longer than some of Joshua’s recent opponents — including Francis Ngannou and Otto Wallin — longevity alone was never enough to shift the momentum. Joshua remained aggressive throughout, pressing forward with the clear intention of securing an early finish.

The crowd grew increasingly impatient as Paul continued to prioritize defense over offense. After repeated clinches and trips to the canvas, a visibly tired Paul was forced to engage in the fifth round. He briefly landed a right hand, but Joshua showed no signs of being affected. The British heavyweight responded with authority, scoring two knockdowns — first with a body shot, then with a sharp one-two combination down the middle.

By the sixth round, Paul was badly hurt. Joshua surged forward and dropped him with another right hand. Paul managed to beat the count, but the reprieve was brief. Joshua followed up with a short, precise right that sent Paul back to the canvas, ending the fight at the 1:31 mark and underscoring the gap between elite championship pedigree and rising professional ambition.
